GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and GPS (Global Positioning Systems) data can be used to interpret and rebuild specific geographic locations.  GIS data can be printed to represent models of specific areas, such as Mt. St. Helen’s before and after its eruption, or of Lake Sakakawea for studying elevations before and after the creation of the lake.
